Primary Education

My Philosophy and Aims

I firmly believe that every child should have the best start in life. As a parent, I understand the feeling of wanting to do your best for your child to equip them for their future.

In my experience, children who are confident learners can make amazing progress. Building confidence is so important, particularly to a child who has maybe lost some of theirs in a particular area.

Often, when children struggle, it is because they missed a ‘building block’ earlier on, which then leads to misconceptions as they progress. Thus, the earlier we can address those issues, the better. As a teacher, some of the best words you can hear are “oh, I get it now!” when we have addressed a misconception and begun to move them along.

By liaising with you and your child, I aim to provide tailor-made tutoring sessions to address the needs of YOUR child and help to instil more confidence in their own abilities and prepare them for future learning.

EYFS & KS1

I have a lot of experience working with children in Early Years and Key Stage 1, including Year 2 and preparation for SATs. I have spent a lot of time choosing resources to engage and motivate my students and look forward to helping your child with the following:

  • Phonics

  • Writing

  • Reading

  • Maths

Phonics information sessions can also be provided to parents who wish to help their children to develop reading and writing skills.

If you have any other requirements, I would be happy to discuss these with you. Please contact me for more information.

KS2

I have taught various years in Key Stage 2 and am always struck by the high expectations that are now set for our children. I am passionate about helping children to achieve their personal best and am always examining how I can best do this, by refreshing my skills, completing professional development courses and liaising with colleagues.

The pace of learning greatly increases as children progress through Key Stage 2 and sometimes they need some extra support with this.

English and maths are the most requested subjects at Key Stage 2, but I am happy to discuss your requirements. Please contact me for more information.

Home-Educated Children

I work with families whose children are home-educated, supporting them with their own curriculum, or following national curriculum expectations, it’s up to you! Contact me to find out if I can help you.
